John L. Ostner, CHFC. CLU
LPL Registered Principal, Chartered Financial Consultant
John has been in the financial industry for 34 years, beginning as a life insurance consultant for Mutual of New York. After several years of working strictly with life insurance, John decided he wanted to do more for his clients in helping them to plan and prepare for the future. He joined LPL Financial in 2000 and began his career as a financial advisor. He specializes in retirement and Social Security planning, as well as using his past experience as an insurance consultant to help his clients find effective long-term care insurance solutions.
John attended Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas, where he received his Bachelor’s of Business Administration. Since then, he has also received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) licenses, as well as his Series 7 and 66 securities licenses (held through LPL Financial). It was in a college finance class that he was first introduced to the power of investment markets, and how most people don’t take advantage of this opportunity to grow their wealth. This challenged John to find a way to guide and educate others on how to more successfully grow and manage their wealth through smart investing.
Though skilled in and passionate about navigating those investment markets to his clients’ advantage, John feels that he truly works in a personal service industry. The personal relationships he builds with clients and their families over the years are always at the heart of the services he provides, and shape the way he advises them. He finds a great amount of satisfaction in educating his clients so that they can feel more empowered to make important financial decisions. In fact, he’s so passionate about it that some of his clients even call him “professor.”
John was born and raised right here in Little Rock, Arkansas, and continues to live here with his wife, Dee. John and Dee met on a blind date and have now been married for 48 years. Together, they have a son and daughter and four grandchildren. They enjoy spending time with their family at their lake house, and sharing their lakeside getaway with friends and loved ones.
John is active in the Club #99 of International Rotary, where he previously served as president. He is also a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow recognition for his contributions to Rotary. He is a past president of the local American Society of CLU and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon national fraternity. He and his wife are also lifetime members of the Pulaski Heights Methodist Church.
