Dr. Monica Lo
Specializes In Electrophysiology
Dr. Monica Lo is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
She treats a variety of arrhythmias (bradycardia, tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia) by performing ablations and implanting pacemakers and defibrillators. Depending on the arrhythmia, the ablative procedure can be curative, allowing her patients to discontinue long-term medication use. Her other interests are women’s health, pregnancy and heart disease, and stroke prevention by left atrial appendage occlusion (Amulet and Watchman implantation). Dr. Lo came to Little Rock to establish the complex arrhythmia ablation program at the Arkansas Heart Hospital. The program is now one of the busiest centers in the world. She has led several important clinical trials, with some resulting in the FDA approval of ablation catheters and ablative technology. She delights in bringing the newest cutting-edge tools to Arkansas, which allows her patients to receive therapies not available otherwise. Because of her expertise, she trains other physicians from around the world on these advances, through lectures and in-person proctoring.
Born in Taiwan, Dr. Monica Lo moved to the United States with her family when she was 12. She graduated with honors from Rice University and received her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She stayed at UT Southwestern to complete her internal medicine residency and fellowships in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Dr. Lo also serves as the Medical Director for Right Rhythm Monitoring, a remote cardiac monitoring service. During her time off, she loves to travel and spend time with her family. Besides English, she speaks Mandarin and Taiwanese.
